Revolutions Per Minute - Radio from the New York City Democratic Socialists of America

Socialism at the Ballot Box with Phara Souffrant Forrest

Episode Summary

Oh what a night. After last night’s Democratic Party debacle in Iowa, today we’re joined by NYC-DSA endorsed candidate Phara Souffrant Forrest to discuss her grassroots campaign to represent the 57th Assembly District of Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, as well as part of Crown Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant. We’ll discuss the real issues facing working class New Yorkers and how a socialists organizing strategy can improve people’s material conditions and build worker and tenant power in our city. Later in the show we’ll have a more thorough breakdown of the election results in Iowa, but before diving into our interview we want to briefly update our listeners on the results of democratic socialist Bernie Sanders' likely win the Iowa caucus.
