Late Thursday the Trump administration recklessly assassinated Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. The dangerous actions of the US Empire could ultimately lead to a devastating war with Iran. The Democratic Socialists of America announced that the organization emphatically opposes a U.S. war with Iran. In light of the U.S.’s act of war against Iran, putting the two nations close to the brink of war, DSA calls on all members and chapters to mobilize against yet another U.S. war in the Middle East. We’re joined today by Sepehr Makaremi, a leader in NYC-DSA Anti-War Working Group, who helped organize the protest outside New York Senator Chuck Schumer’s apartment this past Friday to discuss why a war with Iran would be so barbaric and how socialists are organizing to oppose US imperial aggression. Times like these show the urgent need for anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist political education.
