Revolutions Per Minute - Radio from the New York City Democratic Socialists of America

Justice for Public Housing feat. Julia Salazar

Episode Summary

Nearly twelve percent of New York City’s rental apartments are occupied by NYCHA public housing residents and Section Eight voucher holders. These New Yorkers know all too well the injustices of our capitalist system. NYCHA tenants regularly navigate heat shut-offs and cooking gas outages, conditions that are now further endangering these residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. NYC-DSA members are fighting back for justice and dignity for public housing residents. On today’s show, we’ll speak with comrades Jasmin Sanchez and Dannelly Rodriguez on organizing for socialism in and around public housing. We also have an exclusive interview with State Senator Julia Salazar of state senate district NY-18 on responding to the needs of her constituents who live in NYCHA residences.
