Revolutions Per Minute - Radio from the New York City Democratic Socialists of America

Ecosystem of an Uprising

Episode Summary

In the past few weeks, we’ve seen a massive popular uprising in New York City in support of Black lives and against the continuing violence of the New York Police Department. Daily protests have been met with police brutality in the form of intimidation, physical injury, and mass arrests. DSA members have been out in the streets joining in-person protests and also performing a variety of supportive roles behind the scenes. On today’s show, we’ll hear from comrades engaged in remotely tracking police activity, supporting protestors after they’ve been arrested, and tending to the physical and emotional well-being of protestors during actions. For updates from police scanners, follow @NYPDPoliceRadio or check the live map at scanmap.mobi.
