Free abortion on demand without apology! For too long, the left has gone without a strong and well-organized response to the attack on abortion rights in the United States. Although abortion is technically legal nationwide, it is nearly impossible to obtain one in many states. Patients and workers must navigate medically unnecessary restrictions on abortions, harassment and violence from anti-abortion protestors, and the many social issues that complicate sexual health, reproductive freedom, and the decision to have or not have children. Ensuring access to abortion is about so much more than protecting Roe v. Wade. Today we’re talking to organizers from DSA’s Socialist Feminist Working Group on the Mass Strike for Reproductive Freedom, an ongoing campaign to reclaim the struggle for abortion access from ineffective liberal NGOs and ground this fight in a well-organized movement toward the liberation of the working class. If you need an abortion, this trusted website has resources on the abortion pill and self-managed abortion: https://plancpills.org/. You can also visit abortionfunds.org if you need help paying for an abortion. Reproductive health workers are invited to fill out the Mass Strike’s survey on workplace conditions under COVID-19: bit.ly/ReproHealthSurvey. All are invited to the Mass Strike’s Reading Rosa Reading Group, focusing on Rosa Luxemburg’s “The Mass Strike”. The next remote session is May 30 at 4pm Eastern. RSVP at bit.ly/ReadingRosa.
